Documentary Photography: Just be yourself.
The workshop will take place in a classroom on two weekends, for a total of four days. The participants will develop their projects during the week, giving the opportunity to those working or studying to attend the workshop.
Developing a personal vision as a photographer is both challenging and rewarding. Didier Ruef will lead participants through exciting days of visual presentation and discussion. This course explores ways to develop a personal style while focusing on long-term goals. Ruef will talk about the strength of pictures’ composition and the open-mindedness while looking at and dealing with people. Discussions include finding story ideas, funding projects, gaining access to subjects, interpreting situations to tell a story visually and publishing work in magazines, books or exhibits.
Participants are requested to present a selection of their pictures -digital or printed- for an initial portfolio review, so that Didier Ruef can adapt to students’ interests and needs.
During the week they will be sent out and ask to shoot pictures on their personal projects and ideas. The work will then be edited and discussed during the second weekend in order to raise issues and constructive critics.
The aim of the workshop is to guide each photographer towards his own way of looking and help him to create a personal style.
